(Not surprising given how old it is.) But it corresponds to something Lapham reports that Joseph describes about the sword of Laban that was in the concrete vault. Lapham reports that he was told by Joseph that the sword had '"rusted away and become useless," leaving only the hilt for the young prophet to find.' (I read this in Bradley, "The Lost 116 Pages." I have ebook so I can't give the page number, but it is at the end of chapter 10.)

The detail about it having rusted away and being useless describes this other recently-discovered sword very well as well! I'm not sure a young fraud would think about that kind of detail, but to me it adds a bit of verisimilitude to the story of the plates and their associated artifacts.

P.S. But I just don't know if I can help you understand something if you really don't want to. First of all, there's no requirement for the last BoM battle to have taken place in New York. Most LDS scholars favor a limited Mesoamerican model for its events. And if you don't think there was farming on a massive scale to feed millions of people during that time period in Mexico, Guatemala, etc., then you are ignoring quite a large body of the latest non-LDS scholarship on that subject.Dan Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10559485026615910897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2089973972887263297.post-72754356076456416872020-01-27T11:08:36.447-08:002020-01-27T11:08:36.447-08:00Thanks Thomas, you are right on the money. This post was not intending to prove anything, other than that new finds such as this contradict earlier beliefs about the ancient history of this land. I do believe that horses were on the American continent during BoM times and I've done a lot of research supporting that assertion. I even had a paper about it published.

I see that you are commenting on many of my posts. Thank you for following my blog so attentively. Why are you looking for physical proof? An argument used against it in the past (and perhaps still) is that steel hadn't been invented by 600 BC. That's why I posted this information. I don't know if I can show you examples right now, but I have read it and heard this objection for a long time. And when support for something like this shows up, critics usually don't acknowledge it; they may drop it, or more commonly, continue to use an outdated argument. Thanks for your comment. With your boy Cortes name strewn about many pieces in abundance. Which by the way is in texas and not close to Mexico. Even more astounding. I've located other pieces in a random driveway in the country 30 miles away from where the original discovery was made. By other pieces I mean the first three I picked up I knew were unique all had his mark along with native American rock art pictures. Intricate, unusual, and full of religious freedom. Most of these categories have been criticisms against the Book of Mormon since the beginning. Perhaps your comment should be directed toward Dr. John Clark. Some categories may be better than others, but the general idea is that there is much more support for the details mentioned in the Book of Mormon now than there was in 1830 when it was first published. I'd prefer to concentrate on the more specific and controversial ones. I think you are placing too much weight on one category and ignoring the overall trend.Dan Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10559485026615910897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2089973972887263297.post-84523909541468636152018-03-13T14:08:57.672-07:002018-03-13T14:08:57.672-07:00"Highland Lake" gives you a green win? ..."Highland Lake" gives you a green win?
